The MotoAmerica Superbike races this past weekend at Road Atlanta were crazy, especially on Sunday—all wet, all day. Kyle Wyman and his Kyle Wyman Racing Yamaha YZF-R1 not only survived but thrived, leaving Georgia fourth in the championship point chase courtesy of sixth- and fourth-place finishes.
I rode Wyman’s previous Superstock 1000-spec R1 two years ago at New Jersey Motorsports Park. That thing was shockingly fast, well beyond what my mind was ready for at the time. It was also my first time with an auto-throttle-blipper, and I liked it! Kyle’s current superbike is even faster, which is hard to imagine, especially in the pouring rain.
From the driver’s seat of his Chevrolet diesel pickup, Wyman walked me through his successful race weekend as he lumbered toward Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas, for the second round of the 10-event series, April 20–22. Click here to hear the interview.
